Coffee Prince On The Run: Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon 2015, launch day.

SCKLM 2015 ( Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur marathon ) officially launched today 18/05/2015 and officiated by the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Seri Hj Ahmad Phesal!

I tell you ! Just within few hours. . .. . more than 7000 entries being taken up and the numbers keep going according to SCKLM facebook page.

Don’t take too much time to think, just decide what distance you going to challenge yourself.

This is my home country biggest event not to miss and this year into its 7^th edition. It will be held at Dataran Merdeka on October 4, 2015. The running route will remain the same as in 2014 where full marathoners will have to run on the AKLEH highway and DUKE highway ( oh... so boring, can I have something surprise ?? ) then through those familiar double hills route along Bukit Tunku and Jalan Parlimen ( nightmare, the merge area between 42km, 21km and 10km runners) before making its way back to Dataran Merdeka.

To celebrate Standard Chartered Bank’s 140^th anniversary, the Bank recently ran a contest on SCKLM’s Instagram account inviting participants to submit the best photos of the Marathon. A total of 140 winners were selected, and they won complimentary entries to the Full Marathon. ( I am 1 of the 140 winners , wink wink )

The Race Director, Rainer Biemans of Dirigo Events Sdn Bhd (the event owner & organiser) said that participation of runners is targeted at 35,000 in order to ensure runners to enjoy the best running experience. The space within Dataran Merdeka could not take on more runners unless the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur extend the perimeter surrounding Dataran Merdeka to accommodate additional runners, said Rainer Biemans. 35,000 entries will from various category of the event. This is also to facilitate the logistic and most importantly the safety of all runners on event day.

The SCKLM has also positioned Kuala Lumpur as an idea destination for sport tourism. In recognition of this effort, the SCKLM was awarded the " Platinum Award for Events Category" at the 2014 Kuala Lumpur Mayor's Tourism Awards; making it the only running event award.

ADIDAS ( ya ya, you hear it, you know , you know ??!! )has been chosen as the official apparel brand. Salonpas, GP Battery and Repucom join the list of sponsors with the returning Gold Sponsors, MSIG Insurance and Honda Malaysia, as well as Official Partners – Seiko, Pacific Regency Hotel Group & F&N in completing the list of supporting brands.
